Bob Ross was borne in Orlando, Florida and began painting at the age of 18. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. Having watched a TV artist called Bill Alexander, he took various art courses and eventually developed his own quick style and unique 'Bob Ross Wet-on-Wet Thecnique'.
The first of his 'JOY OF PAINTING' shows was shown in 1982 and to this day they are still being aired by nearly 450 public TV stations in the USA. Outside of America, the programs are being shown in the UK, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Germany, Turkey, Hong Kong, The Phillippines, Holland, Switzerland, Belgium and Austria.

Bob Ross was responsible for devising all of the brushes, paints and other equipment for this technique. There is a wide range of instructional materials, books and DVDs available. There is a Ross style Flower technique and even a Ross style Wildlife method, all in keeping with Bobs original 'easy-does-it' approach.
At the moment there are over 3,000 Bob Ross Certified Ross Instructors (CRI) across the planet, all spreading the word of Bob Ross.
